Grand Opening Exhibitions
White Walls Gallery is delighted to present two concurrent exhibitions to inaugurate its first permanent space. The show entitled “Enter the WW” marks the grand opening of our Main and Loft Galleries, while “Through the Doors” will serve as the unveiling of our Enclosure Gallery.
Many of these works were conceptualized and completed during the height of Covid-19 lockdown and forced quarantine closures characterized by extreme uncertainty. Yet, the collection not only explores that all-too-familiar buzz of anxiety or fear of the unknown, but also reflects a wide range of positive human emotions — from states of equanimity and centeredness to heart-based compassion for others.
Adversity forces the human psyche to go inwards in an attempt to find a sense of order or solace in the midst of panic. Dealing with uncertainty then becomes a life-changing rite of passage, allowing us to learn new ways of perceiving the world and expressing ourselves. While in confinement, many of these artists felt compelled to look within, to explore notions of loss and survival, and to embrace change through creativity, humor and self-expression.
