April 26, 2024

A two-man exhibition featuring works by Joshua Ariar and John Doane.

The emerging global landscape, noticeably without a center of gravity, is an amalgam of cultures, narratives, worldviews, social and political philosophies, and, by extension, visual languages and aesthetic sensibilities. The emerging landscape is both no one’s world and everyone’s world. It is a period marked by the relative decline of the West and the rise of the Rest.
In this year’s Art Fair Philippines, White Walls Gallery presents the group exhibition titled “Emerging Landscape” curated by Patrick de Veyra. The show’s conceptual framework acknowledges the rise of societies, cultures, and ideologies beyond the established Western norm. The theme touches on the complexity and the ever-evolving notions identity, multiplicity of perspectives in contemporary life, and the shifting cultural landscapes of our time. Referencing the geopolitical phenomenon of the “Rise of the Rest”, the group exhibition “Emerging Landscape” is about the current global landscape that is marked by the absence of a political center of gravity, and a constant state of flux.
