About the Artist:
Jason Montinola (b. 1979) envisions cryptic lexicons and histories built from omnipresent themes of love, sin, death, and salvation. Through discriminating painterly treatments, intense shadows and artistic choices underly a sense of the preternatural, as he re-creates otherworldly representations of familiar figures in canon.
The work of Montinola has contributed to expanding worldviews since cultivating a distinct aesthetic not apparent in the immediate landscape. He has exhibited widely in the past two decades. Aside from numerous exhibitions in the Philippines, he has exhibited in Singapore, Japan, Indonesia, Taiwan, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, and the US. This 2022, he participated in numerous group exhibitions with the community-based initiative PARA Collective.
