Selective Memory is the ability to remember certain things while forgetting about others.

For his Sixth Solo Exhibition eponymously named “Selective Memory”, Lendl Arvin immortalizes fragments of his life on canvas, some of which have been fondly preserved in his memory, while mulling over those that he may have forgotten along the way.

The artist references his childhood as a primary inspiration for his theme, noting that certain experiences, both good and bad, have shaped him to be who he is now. His hazy, umber-toned images spark feelings of nostalgia and melancholy, referencing everyday subjects such as flower vases and houses in a frame that invites his viewers to contemplate their own domestic and intimate experiences. Lendl’s showcase aims to spark familiarity with the unfamiliar, encouraging his audience to connect with their own memories and move forward in life with the lessons taken from them.
