Brighter days ahead
A brighter future seems elusive, overcast with doubt, anxiety, and unease as we struggle with today’s challenges. It’s been hard for everyone to grasp a sense of normalcy, given the adjustments and sacrifices we’ve had to make all to protect our families. What would have been basic tasks, like going out for dinner, is now an activity that we can no longer enjoy. As we struggle to move forward, it is important not to lose the sense of hope and resiliency inside of us. Better days will come in a multitude of colors much like a rainbow after the downpour. There are brighter days ahead.
This exhibit is Herrera’s reflection into the world of isolation and quarantine amidst the assault of COVID-19. Affected by the struggles of every man in these trying times, Herrera nevertheless believes that there will be brighter days ahead and pours his sentiments onto the canvas as to declare and claim a positive outcome for our future. With thick brushworks providing substance, signifying a sense of concreteness to his hopes and wishes, his bright and colorful pieces call out to a brighter tomorrow where we overcome our struggles. Through Herrera’s works, one can enjoy a small respite from the challenges we face within the simple joys of life, like sipping a cup of coffee at home.
