“Comfort Noise” explores the concept of peace time as a limbo populated by disruptive thoughts. What is thought of as a break in our schedule to relax becomes a state where one’s thoughts echo words louder across the void of the mind. Through a series of portraits reflective of his own recent experiences, Kiko Urquiola forges compositions wrought about the chaotic musings that come about during his downtime. As we try to make sense of the entropy of everyday life, we find ourselves asking if the rest we allot ourselves by the end of the day puts us more at ease or at a tightening point of tension, yearning for things that aren’t within our reach.
