I’m walking back to a place I thought was very close, but perhaps it is too far away
Curated by Gary-Ross Pastrana, the exhibit title makes references to a letter believed to be written by Van Gogh and “revisits the dynamic” of a group of artists who used to share a studio space in Cubao. The roster of artists includes Poklong Anading, Martha Atienza, Victor Balanon, Yason Banal, Broke, Louie Cordero, Nona Garcia, Kawayan de Guia, MM Yu, and Pastrana.

Wunderkammer
Wunderkammer showcases the works by Victoria Fabella, Efren Carpio, Jobert Cruz, Ku Romillo, and Cholo Cardenas, to name a few. The group exhibition is part of the gallery’s open-themed presentation called "Cabinet of Curiosities," which is "reflective of tales worth telling for the years to come."

thirteen kinds of silence
Contemplating various concepts and ideas related to something as abstract as silence, 13 artists—Raena Abella, Jan Balquin, Pope Bacay, Annie Cabigting, Bea Camacho, Roberto Chabet, Nilo Ilarde, Audrey Lukban, Rhaz Oriente, Bernardo Pacquing, Michelle Perez, Miguel Lorenzo Uy, Oca Villamiel—come together in thirteen kinds of silence. The exhibition is organized and curated by Ilarde.

The eye cuts where the hand lands
“Through the intuitive gestures of finding, cutting, and touching, we draw connecting lines between contemporary practices…,” writes exhibition curator Pristine de Leon. The eye cuts where the hand lands” brings together six artists—Allan Balisi, Lesley-Anne Cao, Fatima Erasmo, Babylyn Geroche Fajilagutan, Jel Suarez, and Dennese Victoria—whose practices touch on tactility in art.

Ateneo Art Awards 2022
Previous winners of the Ateneo Art Awards Nathalie Dagmang, Constantino Zicarelli, Martha Atienza, Gale Encarnacion, and Cian Dayrit return for the 2022 edition of the Fernando Zóbel Prizes for Visual Art. The exhibition demonstrates the progression of each other’s practices, from ethnography to working with communities.

Xavier Art Fest 2023
The annual Xavier Art Fest returns this January with a number of exhibitors from all over the Philippines, such as Linangan Art Residency, Bohol-Buhol, KalawakanSpacetime, The Lab Art Project, and Tin-aw. According to the organizer, the three-day fair will showcase over 2,000 artworks and 60 galleries.

Regeneration
A gathering of more than 50 artists of various artistic backgrounds and practices, Regeneration serves as the inaugural exhibition of the gallery in its new space. The exhibition is curated by Carlomar Daoana and will feature DJ sets by Melvin Mojica and Gerard Henson.

Phantasmapolis x Manila
Phantasmapolis x Manila features works by Filipino and Taiwanese artists interspersed with archives and documents that “re-examine Asia’s past and present through these modalities of futurity.” This iteration of the 2021 Asian Art Biennial is curated by Tessa Maria Guazon and includes the works by Catalina Africa, Mark Salvatus, and Alvin Zafra.

A Room to Think
With the theme “A snapshot of the times we spent in isolation”, Pinto Art Museum opens its third installment of the Visual Arts Helping Hands Foundation. Proceeds of the event go to an emergency fund to assist the visual arts community. An art book that features 71 artists and 250 artworks will also be launched on the opening day.

Dark Memories and Alaala ng Martial Law
Rick Rocamora and Edgar Doctor, in two stand-alone but interrelated exhibitions, remind viewers about the horrors and violence during Martial Law under the dictatorship of former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. Rocamora’s black and white photographs and Doctor’s pen and ink works serve as personal accounts and stories during this dark period in the country.
